Not as good as I’d expected, given the Aleem/Time recommendation, but it was good. I think it’s great that Grimm has decided to publish some of his life story, especially in illustrated format, but I guess I hoped he’d take more of “a cautionary tale” approach – I’m not sure this will steer as many young people away from the gangster lifestyle as intended.
Anyhow, aside from that, it was a good read. I really enjoyed the early parts – the childhood segments were especially good, and the scary Big Bird looming out of the studio lights was awesome, as well as the discarded Muppet skins. I did find the middle/end of the book to drag a little, and I started to lose interest.
In general, I thought the artwork to be the high point of the book – pretty, and slightly stylized/caricaturey, which worked really well with the story.
