WORTH CONSUMING!

I’ve been thinking about these sytlized, “hip” movies about loveable/quirky characters. I think the one thing that Juno does that is a little different (and is to its credit) is that the characters end up not being who you think they are initially. You can’t say too much without spoilers, but if you’ve seen it and you think about I think you’ll understand what I mean.

Still, it was hard to get past the, “no one in real life would talk like that” moments.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was expecting a quirky comedy, and it didn’t disappoint. What I wasn’t expecting was to enjoy the film as much, and to feel quite moved by it all – oh, not the teen pregnancy bit, but the family dynamic.

A lot of the script – particularly the beginning – does feel quite stylised: no teenager has ever spoken like that! But it’s rather enjoyable, and creates the ‘cool’ facade-persona that Juno wants to display, contrasting nicely with those moments where she admits she’s lost: “I don’t know what kind of girl I am”.

Overall, better than expected: fun, fresh, funky and surprisingly touching.

OK but not much more, tried too hard — 27 weeks ago

“Alternative. Alternative. I’ve gotta be alternative and still appeal to people who don’t know who Dario Argento is. Do like ‘Garden State’ crossed with ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ except for the horror being switched for quick comedy. I can’t believe I just thought of Polanski and not Troma or something just as alternative and/or cool!” I guess those were the words of the scriptwriter. This film is fair, brings a couple of laughs and is quite coherent, and apart from the odd good music there’s not that much laudable in this box; I can’t get over the feeling that the film-makers have tried too hard to make this film feel all fresh, so much that they kind of overlooked the factor that made Ricky Fitts the great character he was in “American Beauty”. Watch “L’Avventura” again, I say.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was smiling through the movie and still smiling after it has ended.
It was one of the sweetest, quirkiest, and funniest movie that I would still be able to smile at it every time I see it :p

it was alright. i don’t think it was as great as everyone acts like.

Juno came off as being a know it all smart alec(if she was as smart as she thinks she was , she wouldn't have gotten pregnant.)
i did like that it was way different the typical high school comedy, but i don't think too many parents would put down their own children in front of complete strangers like the step mother did at the gynocoligist to her own daughter.
overall imight watch it again but i probably wouldn't buy to own it.
