I’d never read any of The Boondocks comic strips before, but I enjoyed this collection very much. It took me a little while to get through it; it’s not the kind of book you can read from cover to cover in one sitting, as the material’s dense (and, at times, repetitive). I found it interesting to see the evolution of the strip and the characters as the years went by. The social commentary’s usually spot-on, but I think it’s a compliment to McGruder’s writing that the strip I found the funniest was a character piece, and not a social or political one. Definitely recommended, even though I’m a white Canadian guy.

Great comics. I wish I had a better attention span so I could have finished this book.
