I quickly read bits and pieces of this a few weeks ago and now am reading it a little more throughly. She really is a very good storyteller and her love of food is quite apparent. She includes a number of recipes. Her message is really to change your relationship with food and to enjoy life, a long slow process, but a worthy one.
When I have read the article with similar topic on the newspaper here in UK, adding to the reason why French women don’t get fat, they featured British women’s “What’s wrong with us?” comments. I am the beginner of French-British relationship issues, but I suppose British women would be annoyed by comparing with French peers. But this book is on the bestseller book list now. I’m curious about how British women would read this book, and how they think.
To me, things she wrote are nothing new. French way of thinking towards food and how to eat is similar to that of Japanese. And I already knew some of her tips she wrote in this book from Japanese women’s magazine. But as the author is a French woman who lives in New York, she always sees the differences between US and France. It is interesting if I read this book as comparison of US(UK) and French culinary cultures.
