The only reason I listened to the “clean” version is because Kanye West likes to curse and I like to play songs on the radio. Mr. West far surpasses the crappy hip hop that’s floating out there on the airwaves. I think his rhymes are less progressive and political than Late Registration, but the beats are MUCH better. Kanye’s learned the art of restraint. With only 13 tracks, the album avoids the excess trap that so many hip hop stars fall into. And most of the songs are exceptionally melodic and whimsical (for a rapper). I appreciate Kanye’s sampling of Michael Jackson’s “PYT” on “Good Life.” Although I prefer K-OS and M.I.A., Kanye West is by far my favorite mainstream hip hop musician.
