WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s been a while since I last saw any version of Blade Runner, but my memories were far more impressive than this latest last version. It just seemed rather slow and full of ‘heavy portent’ that didn’t actually go anywhere – unicorns, wot!?

Maybe I need to watch the extras and/or director’s commentary to ‘fully appreciate’ this new vision of a visually stunning, modern classic sci-fi.

WORTH CONSUMING!

i hadnt seen blade runner in years, honestly didnt really remember too much about it, and it ended up being the cap to a long weekend with friends. we rented it in hd, and yes, it is an absolutely gorgeous movie.
this cut is extremely extremely artsy, it is not an action movie at all in this iteration. one day, i think id like to watch the 37 different cuts of this movie that have come out over the years, and compare and contrast them, pick a favorite. i doubt this one would come out on top though.
too airy for its own good, too dreamy. things happen in spurts, irregular, deckard comes off like hes just really bad at his job. the obvious unanswered questions are still raised, but overall the movie in this form seems much more..unnecessary. it leaves an impression, not a memory, rather ironic. you can almost tell how exasperated harrison ford must have been while filming this movie, after coming off the straight edge of lucas/spielberg, trying and make sense out of a philosophical, mystical, weird-ass sci-fi script.
but, it is an amazing piece of art. no other movie is like it, i can say that for sure. the ambiance has been perfected from alien, the music, although strange and cheezy at times, still fits, the heavy usage of asian culture to throw the typical western audience member into full-blown alienation mode is brilliant, its just so iconic, which makes it hard to critique, like bitchin about king lear.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I didn’t see anything different in this final cut to the Director’s Cut. Yeh I saw the unicorn. Yeh the film ends as it should. It says several new scenes, about four minutes in total, but I didn’t see anything different. OOps. Ended where I started! I’d watch this film without the narration any day.
Don’t get the game. It ain’t worht it.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is the only version I’ve seen, so I don’t know whether that changes anything. Anyway, it was good, but a little, hmm, odd. It just didn’t seem to flow very well, to me.

this was really cool. There are a few areas where you can definitely pick out the improvements, and they look nice. I still miss Deckard’s narration though; I always felt that it gave a more intimate feel to the movie where you were going along with it instead of just being an observer.
