Enjoying This Movie Depends on... — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Your willingness to suspend disbelief and rationality. I enjoyed this film. I don’t see how it was difficult to keep track of the events but I do see how it was inconsistent. They could talk to each other only through the letters for a little while but then all of the sudden they could have a verbal conversation in the park bench scene? That didn’t make any sense to me.

The characters themselves I wasn’t very big on either. They were distant and difficult to attach to. However, I did find myself caring about them as a couple.

It’s simply something cute and beautiful to watch, not genius.

Okay, it sucked, but at least I got to look at Keanu Reeves.

Not bad...Not a masterpiece but entertaining — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I agree with another reviewer—-not the greatest movie ever made…I felt the story could’ve had a bit more complexity…it was a bit weak, but well very well acted by Sandra Bullock, and fairly well acted by Keanu (Not sure if he was the right man for the part..Hmmm), But overall a pleasant Chick Flick…I liked the architecture as well – I liked that I could say “I’ve been there” to many of the places shown from Downtown Chicago. I’m fairly new to Chicago and really am loving the architecture…eager to explore more!

I hope Sandra will continue working – and making many more (better quality) movies in the next few years. Hope Jesse James doesn’t keep her hidden away from the world…..

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

While mildly entertaining to watch, this is probably the dumbest concept for a movie I’ve ever witnessed.

What the hell was going on?

If you’re prepared to not get too involved in the plot, or the characters, then it’s a decent kind of romance. Personally what kept me watching was the scenery and architecture. It helped that Sandra and Keanu don’t hurt the eyes, but the dog was the most interesting character.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Completely confusing. Plot went AWOL about half way through. Keanu and Sandra Bullock had about as much chemistry as a bit of wet bread. I went to see it because I loved the premise – the idea of a magic post box. Jeeez. It just left me bewildered and wondering how it was all supposed to fit together. A shame.

WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s a wonderful movie! I’d never watched the original movie, ‘Il Mare’, but this was wonderful. The plot requires a little suspension of disbelief, but as far as time-travel plots go, it was quite plausible – more believable than ‘Frequency’, which I also love.

The movie is understatedly beautiful – great pacing in the script, good performance by Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves, decent cinematography, and was utterly compelling viewing. Heard quite a number of sniffles and gasps when I was in the theatre – and a couple of them even came from me.

This was worth the price of a weekend movie ticket price, and I’m so getting the DVD when it comes out. In Code 1!

Here be spoilers: I had actually figured out the plot by the time the accident happened, and I figured that the original movie was a real tearjerker because of that. I had a feeling that Hollywood would insist on a happy ending though and I’m glad I’m right! Just because I’m a hopeless romantic who loves romantic movies, of course.
