It’s My Thing is an important funk album. Marva Whitney sounds unleashed and fierce when she sings about economic issues (“You Got to Have a Job”) or bastard ex-boyfriends (“Get Out of My Life”). There’s also a slightly subdued duet with James Brown (“Sunny”). HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!
