WORTH CONSUMING!

This third book was better than the second, but I have to agree with the writer below that the first was by far the strongest of the trilogy. Still, this was a satisfying end to Tally’s story, and left many of the issues raised open for interpretation by the readers – an important thing when it comes to young adult literature, I think.

Not as Strong — 1 year ago

In my opinion, the first book was the strongest of the trilogy. It dealt a lot with the issues of what we’re doing to the world today, and played around with what the future of our world could be and examining the society that results from our society’s crash and burn. Reactions against racism, how people are controlled to keep them from becoming greeding and trashing the environment even worse than we have, and plays with some pretty powerful “what if”s.

Third book, however, doesn’t quite drop the ball, but it’s not as strong as the first two, very little is added to the characters and it’s more flash with less substance. I liked following the story to it’s end, and he ties up the end of the book well with more strength coming out of Tally at the end. But the book seems to be a cascade of accidents piling up on each other and disasters beyond the character’s control.

Well, I’m waiting for it to come into the library, when I went they didn’t have it in stock. So I gave them my card and said I want this book.

I’ve read (and bought) the first two in the trilogy, and I imagine I could get my hands on a copy at the bookstore. But – as contrasted with the name of this site – I’m on an anticonsumerism kick right now and I want to avoid buying stuff.
