I read Kingsolver’s Poisonwood Bible some time ago and loved it, but wasn’t really inspired to seek out any of her other work. Now I’m dismayed that it took me so long! The Bean Trees was a beautiful, human, engaging story that touched every fibre of my being.

It’s about love and loss and learning and growing, and the amazing resilience of the human spirit. And it’s beautiful.
