WORTH CONSUMING!

Nadal dominated Federer to the point of having double break chances in the fifth set (there are no tie-breakers in the fifth set of Wimbledon). But, he couldn’t convert and in the span of a few minutes, in what was otherwise an almost four hour match, Federer broke Nadal (the one break chance he had since the first set of the match) and went on to win his fifth consecutive Wimbledon title making him tied for the record with Björn Borg, who was in the audience.

In 2001, Sampras was in Federer’s shoes, trying to tie with Borg, but Federer beat Sampras in a five setter. Today, when the match went to a fifth set knowing that Federer had won all four prior titles in four sets was a green sign for Nadal, but Federer persevered in the one point that mattered, which is unfortunate for Nadal because he had him. All eyes will be on Federer next year because he will try to rewrite tennis history again by attempting to win six titles and Nadal will likely be his opponent.

WORTH CONSUMING!

First day kicks off with a great match between Tim Henman (way to go for the British crowd, they were really rooting him on) and Carlos Moya. The last set was full of excitement, six deuces, Henman couldn’t close the match and the game was suspended until tomorrow. Can’t wait to see who advances.
