Anthony Hopkins is an aircraft engineer accused of murdering his wife and Ryan Gosling a hotshot young and successful lawyer.
Hopkins plays the part of the murderous (or is he?) aircraft engineer in sub-H.Lecter style. He also seems to extend his acting range toward the last thrid of the film by suddently giving his character an Irish accent.
Gosling as the public prosecutor with a 97% convistion rate is laid back and cocky and on a promise of a job in a big law firm and shiney blond girlfriend, if he closes this seemingly open and closed case quickly.
Of course Lecter – sorry Hopkins gets the better of Gosling early on and it’s a climb up the twisty ladder of confusion in an attempt to turn the tables.
This is an effective if slightly slow paced thriller that could have packed a bigger punch at the end.
I still don’t understand why half the cast is British, but you GO Ryan Gosling! Beat Anthony Hopkins to a pulp!
WTH was Anthony Hopkins trying to do with his accent?
