The book was less helpful than I was hoping for, although I guess it still gives some decent basic tips for the makeup-challenged (like myself).
It was hard to see exactly how the steps were contributing to change the look of the models because they were all perfectly airbrushed to start out with.
And I am a super fair-skinned person with slightly reddish but mostly brown hair. Light brunette? Well, I didn’t feel like I fit in with either the tips for porcelain-skinned redheads (with bright orange hair, apparently!) or brunettes (which were definitely of the more typical dark-haired, medium-skinned variety). So even though there were tips for the 3 hair colors plus “Asian”, “Mocha”, “Dark Skin” and “Olive”, I ended up feeling left out.
Basically I was just hoping for some serious transformations, a-la What Not To Wear, but there were no amazing before and after photos that left me inspired that anything fantastic (yet quick and painless) could be done to my own face.
