WORTH CONSUMING!

Gorgeous, risky film. But only risky because certain people will only see the surface and not the actually think about it, or see beyond the facade.

Compelling story that emphasizes the strength of our connections with people. So lovely.

Brilliant acting, wonderful editing, and a beyond fantastic soundtrack. Definitely worth seeing/consuming.

WORTH CONSUMING!

i’ll basically watch anything with samuel l. jackson in it because…he’s samuel l. jackson. this isnt to say that he hasnt been in some absolute crap movies. now, this movie isnt absolute crap, but it is difficult to discern exactly what im supposed to come away from this movie feeling. its hard to get offended by it because none of the characters ever really seem genuine, and the dialogue is so outrageous that the entire movie feels like some kind of long, drawn-out in-joke. this is not to say it isnt entertaining. but thats it though. none of the characters conflicts are really resolved, samuel l. jackson is not a good singer. if anything this movie might exist solely to make people remember christina ricci as hot. to that effect the film works remarkably well.
in the end though, kind of feels like a waste of time. like maybe you should have been watching a real movie. this is just a silly exercise.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Black Snake Moan left me with mixed feelings. I’m sympathetic to the feminist argument that would say this film portrays another example of a woman abused by men who is “saved” by a soulful minority character. It’s impossible to ignore the fact that Samuel L. Jackson’s character chains Christina Ricci’s character to the radiator. If someone did this in real life, lawsuits would abound. But Black Snake Moan is a movie, and as such, shouldn’t be taken too seriously. The soundtrack totally rocks.
