Very poignant tale..... — 2 years ago
I am a new but HUGE fan of Jon Katz and his wonderful amazing animals at Bedlam farm. A Good Dog is the first book of Jon’s that I’ve read…and I’m looking forward to getting all the rest.
This was a very well written story….as real and true as one could ever be….written from the heart. I grimaced, laughed, learned, and cried along with Jon while reading this book. I felt so many familiar emotions…as I had a “Troubled Dog” too once….my best friend and lifetime dog Watts….an amazing Jack Russell Terrier…who I had to put down in 2003. Watts & I went through many similar situations as Jon and Orson did.
I can see many little similarities in Lucie, my border collie-lab mix, that Jon talks about in his dogs—Orson, Rose, Clem and Pearl. We have a huge yard in a suburban town that Lucie herds birds, our cats, and falling leaves….I wish she had a farm such as Bedlam to explore.
This is a book for dog lovers. This is a book for all animal lovers and those who believe in the spiritual, psychic and true deep love & friendship bond that exists between a dog and their human. There is nothing quite like it on this earth and it is the most precious gift ever. We are truly blessed to have these beautiful creatures in our lives.
Thank you Jon Katz. Thank you for sharing such an intimate story of your life with Orson and the animals on your farm. I am forever better for reading it. I’m so looking forward to reading more!
(See my dog Lucie’s photo attached. The cover of “A Good Dog” shows Orson…the picture looked so much like Lucie’s muzzle, I had to pick it up!)
