WORTH CONSUMING!
A brilliant movie. It follows the lives of two bothers in the 1920s as they vow to fight the oppressive British occupation of Ireland. It seems to be historically accurate, and it explains much about how the IRA came into existence and why it continued to fight on after the Irish Free State was created. Excellent acting. One excruciating torture scene I had to look away from. The romantic side story gives a little respite from the dramatic intensity. And everything is so green … from the moss on the rocks and trees to the soldiers’ uniforms. Kudos to director Ken Loach.
