WORTH CONSUMING!

Very sleek action and filming. Fast paced.

A story about this — 1 year ago

I’ve never even heard of the game this was based on, but it’s a pretty cool idea: emotionless hitman, trained from childhood by a secret organisation to be excellent at all forms of combat. Add a distinctive look – besuited, bald, tattooed with a barcode – and an intriguing plot: the hitman being set up as the target.

Sounds good. Looked pretty good. Good fight scenes. Actually – could have done with some more fight scenes, to drown out the rest of the ‘story’. Alas, it tries to be everything, and the added elements weaken the whole thing. Emotionless killer starts to feel? Been done. Fragile girlie learns to relate to scary bald man? Yawn.

The good: Timothy Olyphant is mostly pretty good – well, he has a very nicely shaped head, anyway. And Dougray Scott was much better than I think I’ve ever seen him. Hurrah for Scottish accents in films!

The bad: the female character – cliche all over. The convoluted twists – no wow factor.
