It was difficult for me to rank this book, mostly because it really wasn’t at all what I expected it to be from the back cover blurb. I had expected something more sci-fi, and while the book repeatedly set up for something like that, it never delivered. It never really delivered on much of anything at all. There was no real conclusion to the book, and I felt like the end was a poor setup for a lousy horror movie sequel. The characters were mostly flat, and even the main protagonist didn’t achieve much for himself. The case he took was interesting, but I had the answer almost 60 pages before the characters did. That all being said, it wasn’t complete trash, but it could have been better than it was.
