I always thought, from the time I first saw her in The Godfather when I was really young, that Diane Keaton is the most powerful woman in the world.

She has this… enormous energy that she brings forth in all of her characters, and Because I Said So was another outstanding performance.

The mom ends up marrying her daughter’s boyfriend’s father in the end.

Aside from that, I really want to buy this movie and at it to my Keaton Kollection!

I love how she had the warm family tones, just like she did in The Family Stone, and in Father of the Bride (I and II) even though they were a little more subtle then.

I’m going to watch it again.

I watched Because I Said So because Lauren Graham was in it. She soldiers on, but her role is minor, and she can’t save this hunk o’ junk. The plot: an obnoxious, controlling mother dominates her co-dependent daughter. There are so many stupid stereotypes in this movie, it’s as if it plays in some alternate universe where the feminist movement never took place. For starters, someone needs to tell “mom” that a woman doesn’t need a man to experience an orgasm. And why does she feel the need to discuss this topic with her daughter instead of her friends? Oh wait, in case you didn’t notice, she has no friends!

This is not funny. Stupid, stupid movie! They should let you give zero stars for cases like this.

I watched this movie because I was on a plane from London to New York and it was the only thing in front of me. While it is not the worst movie I have been forced to watch on a plane, I would certainly not recommend it to anyone who has a choice between this and anything remotely good. I guess if you’re really into romantic comedies you’ll probably love it.
