I read this a while ago and I enjoyed every page of it! I have already completed King’s The Dark Tower book series and I wanted to move on to the comics. This compilation has all 7 of the Gunslinger Born comics in it. It followed alot of what was in Wizard and Glass, so even though it was familiar, it was cool to see it in comic form! I thought it was great!

Sadly, Fendshuiguy did my review for me. I cannot believe how little I know about The Dark Tower books. I understand for the sake of flow they started when Roland was a kid, but for someone who knows nothing about the books, I just think that was a bad idea. Now I am trying to figure out what’s what and it kindas blows. I need volume 2 ASAP.

Worth Consuming!

Not bad. Not great, but not bad. Unfortunately, the story focuses mostly on Wizard and Glass rather than The Gunslinger. It comes up to but doesn’t completely finish the climax of that story. There’s a bit of a hint of things later to come (ie. we see the Crimson King) and a bit of a glimpse of the story of The Gunslinger, but not a great deal.

Which is a shame, because, as per the cover, “contemporary” Roland (the old grizzled gunslinger) is lovingly crafted by the artist, and marvelously iconic. I guess I’ll just have to hunt down more of the same.
