This book is about two warring factions of shapeshifters: avians (that is, birds) and snakes (the serpiente). Danica Shardae, a hawk and the main character, is heir to the throne of the avians. She has lost nearly her whole family to the snakes. Sooner than she knows, she is Queen and the war is in her hands. During a trip to a land of tigers, she and the opposing shapeshifters decide that the war must end…and the only way for this to happen is to have intermarriage between bird and snake. Zane Cobriana is the king of the serpiente, and soon, husband to Danica. He too has lost family because of the war. Although the two find themselves not being fond of each other because of their (somewhat) forced union, they soon begin to accept the other. The story proceeds with them trying to accept the other and the two sides coping with the end of the war. However, traitors still linger. This book is…rather short, and the characters somewhat underdeveloped. Not the best and not the worse. Some may find this a wonderful book, and others may hate it.
