The third book in the Immortals series charmed me more than the previous two. Set in the wilds of northern Scotland, The Awakening features a host of Celtic magical creatures and demons. Wandering painter and water witch, Christine Lachlan journeys to the remote castle home of Kalen, the third Immortal born of Uni, the Etruscan’s Mother Goddess. It was refreshing that this book evaded the gritty urban settings for the first two books. Kalen’s affinity to the past meant that readers of historical romances can find enjoyment in this book as well.
