A story about this — 2 years ago
The Lookout has a lot of good things going for it. Great acting and casting, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Isla Fisher, Jeff Daniels and Matthew Goode. Also the concept was quite good but still it left me only really thinking, why didn’t this really work? My friend Brett and I agreed that basically this film could not figure out what the story is. Is it about Chris Pratt and his character or is it about a bank heist. Neither seemed to work.
It’s not a bad film and it looks very nice but I didn’t find it compelling or really challenging. I think it stretched too thin with the heist part of the story, and that stifled the character arc of Chris.
Maybe it’s just the Joseph Gordon Levitt has been in some fantastic movies as of late and though this was not bad it was really not up to his level.
I just wouldn’t see it again or really recommend it to anyone.
