Amazing portrait of an untouched pre-1950 Tibet. Definitely worth a read. A hell of a movie too.

Great book from a first hand perspective. While its literary style may not be very stylish — the information on the culture and people of Tibet, the vivid imagery and the conversations with the Dalai Llama and his advisors is well worth the read. If you want to learn about Tibet/Lhasa, this is the book for you.
