WORTH CONSUMING!

I bought this because there was a 3-for-2 sale and I didn’t know what else to get! I love Ewan McGregor and I guessed I’d see it someday. My cousin (who has the weirdest taste in movies!) decided to watch it with me.

I had never heard of Beatrix Potter before (I don’t know much about English children’s literature, being French Canadian and all) so I enjoyed discovering her world at the same time as her story. I loved the whimsiness of the movie, I thought the animation they sprung out of Beatrix’s illustrations was very beautiful.

I don’t like Renee Zellweger much but what can you do. I did love Ewan McGregor, though his mustache was horrible! ;)

A beautiful movie on dear lady Beatrix Potter, with a lovely soundtrack.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I enjoyed seeing Ewan and Renee reunited in Miss Potter. I could have used more Ewan (somehow he makes even the most unbelievable films believable and heartfelt). As a child growing up, I was more of an A. A. Milne reader than a fan of Beatrix Potter’s books, but I rather enjoyed this movie.

WORTH CONSUMING!

A sweet little movie about Beatrix Potter, creator of Peter Rabbit. I felt the movie lacked the kind of magical charm that it was clearly striving for with the animated drawings – like it was consciously trying to be another Finding Neverland. The plot was fairly threadbare, so not really for those who need huge developments. I felt Renee Zellweger was really miscast (and not because of her nationality like some critics) – she seemed to be forcing herself to smile almost the entire movie, and she never struck the right chord of eccentricity and charm. But, despite all the criticism, I enjoyed the movie and was moved during some of the better parts (the party especially – from Ewan singing, to spiking the chaperone’s coffee, to Renee’s storytelling). A pleasant little movie overall.
