I saw this when I was young and me and my friends just loved it. We used to watch it repeatedly and act it out and quote it . . . and spook ourselves with music boxes.
When I saw it again I thought it was still very well made, pretty and eerie. The plot and dialog were a little weak for grown up tastes. Bette Davis rocked, though. And I had no idea who she was when I was little.
I didn’t remember that there were 2 sisters, and even when the film started I couldn’t remember which one was “contacted” and then, of course, they both are – one by sight and one by sound – which is very clever and cool. I think I’d forgotten the sound/writing stuff and remembered the blue light and the mirrors . . .
Well, it was a great spooky movie as a kid and I enjoyed watching it again as an adult. I jumped when . . . well, I won’t say.
