NOT WORTH CONSUMING

The good thing is the main character, Hannibal was played by a quite good actor, and the story about how he became so crazy is also good. But the way it was made, the fact that everyone, including Lithuanians, Russians, German, French, everyone spoke English, that was really something terrible. But the worst thing was the sound, not music, but the sound, it was so horrible, I had to leave the hall for a while, because I had a headache. The sound was, well it was cheap. As visual effects, they were the same way cheap.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This is a truly horrid film, without being scary or bringing any other sensible feeling to the table. This film is a prequel, ranging from the start of Hannibal Lecter’s life, to where he’s appx. 20 years old. The two most interesting things about the film: 1. Dominic West (from The Wire) acts in it. 2. one of the characters is called “Murasaki”, the same as a sushi-restaurant in Stockholm. Yes, the film is that notable. Sorry piece of pap.

This left me with a very bad taste in the mouth, most notable when comparing this film with the previous ones in the series, especially “The Silence Of The Lambs”, where everything stands out as far better than this one: screenplay, synopsis, acting, direction, soundtrack, cinematography…arrrgh. All connections between the young Lecter and his later, known-through-the-other-films-self, are extremely over-done, so that even the blind shouldn’t miss out. Nothing is subtle in this film. It’s as if Hopkins’ entire repertoire is a joke to these people.

See this, if you must, with very low expectations, and you might actually walk away unscathed.
