WORTH CONSUMING!

Saw this at the cinema, but obviously time for another viewing just before Quantum of Solace – which is set a mere 60 minutes after this one ends!

It would be hard to argue with the ‘best Bond yet’ tag. As is the current fashion (see Batman Begins / _Dark Knight), this is a reboot of the franchise, where everything gets a darkly realistic make over. No gadgets, no real Bond Babes, and Bond himself is grittier and deadlier than ever.

I personally like Daniel Craig as Bond. He’s less pretty, but more believable. The movie meets enough Bond stereotypes – plays with half of them! – to not totally alienate fans, but lacks any hint of cheesiness.

Looking forward to the sequel even more.

Best Bond Ever — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is truly the greatest Bond film ever made. Daniel Craig is also the best Bond ever. No longer will Bond be merely a 2-dimensional male chauvinist; he has feelings, subtley, and finally some context.

Why I gave up consuming this — 1 year ago

I got bored. Not my kind of action movie. But then, I’m not a Bond fan.

WORTH CONSUMING!

the only problems i had with this movie was A: instead of baccarat they chose poker as the game. i understand poker is hot right now and more identifiable to the masses but i think it would have been nice to keep it as the original. and B: that lieter was black. call me a racist but lieter was clearly white. he’s in a couple of fleming’s bond books and the character is white. especially for the time period when casino royale was written i don’t think it was ppopular for a black man to be in the cia. i could be terrribly worng and i have no problem w/him being black it just seemed wrong.
this was the first james bond book i really liked and thought they did a good job with the film. there obviously was more fight scenes, the book is v. short, and m is a woman- judi dench plays a great m. cold, calculated and brash, and most importantly still alive from the other bond movies so can’t be replaced. good job w/ the adaptation of the book.

Suprised — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

i am not a Bond fan at all, in fact i don’t really like any other Bond movies. So when i watched this one with some friends i was pleasantly suprised to find out it was a really good movie.

Although everytime i sit in a wicker bottomed chair now i squirm a little!
