I thought this movie, an independant film distributed by Vanguard would be as big of a bust as The Raven but I was surprised that in actuallity it captured my interest, had some surprising twists and an actual plot.
Set in a post apocalytic US in Cachney COunty ( which from the land scapes could be texas or midwest area) which is ruled over by insane ex- super model Queen Amber. Pitted against Amber is Sylvie, a young woman fighting for existance in a world without electricy, running water, and scarce food, mo real family just and “adopted” Uncle Reggie. Sylvie begins a crusade to stop the regin of terror and bloodshed that Amber is inflicting on the pretty young girls of cachney county.
Definetly not a high budget movie, but Sylvie is a multi-dimendional character, and the relationships between her and those around her are interesting. There’s a twist at the end that you dont see coming exactly.
Someadditional research and repeative watching would reveal some of the deeper archtypes at work in the film, and I think there are some fairytale parallels that could be drawn if I had to to investigate further. . . overall though, not bad for an independant film. . . its billed as a horror/sci-fi film, there is some blood, some violence and some nudity and sexual scenes, so it is not suitable for younger viewers, but I didnt feel like I wasten my money on the rental, or my time watching it.
