Why is it that SONY and other film studios spend so much money on animation and celebrity voiceovers, and next to nothing on scriptwriting? I practically slept through the first hour of this 86-minute production, waiting for the one good scene: The battle with the hunters. I’m sure kids will enjoy the animated characters. Just have them close their ears and watch. The dialog is pedestrian at best, banal at worst. Kind of a Shrek/Donkey wannabe. Makes one wonder why Martin Lawrence, et al would agree to lend their aural talents to it, but … oh, yeah… it’s all about the Benjamins.
