WORTH CONSUMING!

I don’t know much about hip-hop music but I know what I like. And I like this. A lot. Instrumental hip-hop that wears its influences on its sleeve for all to see: jazz, r&b, and soul. If you’re like mainstream hip-hop music I don’t think you’d like this album, at least, not right away. Compared to a mainstream release, it has more depth and a sense of quirky playfulness that I really appreciated. It’s good background music, but a closer listen really shows you how much work went into the pieces, and how much talent Jay Dee really had. Excellent music.

WORTH CONSUMING!

RIP J Dilla!

I have said this before on my blog and people frowned at me.

But now everyone sees what I saw before his untimely death.

J Dilla is/was the Dr. Dre of the indie rap scene. And dare I say a better producer than the Chronic man himself.

Well, Dilla’s posthumous CD Donuts is just a small sampling of how ingenious this man was behind the production boards. To fully understand this man’s impact in the rap game, go to stonethrows.com and check out his discography.

There’s no one illa . . . than J Dilla!

Turn it up!
