A story about this — 1 year ago
The last book in the series disappointed me a little. Oh, it has some fab ideas but somehow they aren’t made ‘big’ enough, I think. Judy’s story is revisited, but it’s been years since we left her, and the gap dims some of the effect. There could be something really creepy about the way she’s pushed into action, but it never quite is. The FE system… where did it come from, what is it really? We find out, but… I dunno, it was just a bit flat and slightly confusing. Perhaps I wasn’t paying enough attention.
On the other hand, I like that we pick up threads from books one and two: Eva gets her chapter 6, as does Constantine Storey. Ballantyne does try to bring all his threads to an end, and if I wasn’t entirely satisfied with the answer – well, such is life.
