A story about this — 2 years ago
I read that this book was written as a metaphor for our relationship with the Middle East at the time. I wonder if that’s true. Can you use the term magical realism to describe a book? Because I would describe this book as what might come out of trying to give written words to that kind of film.
I enjoyed the hideous monster and beaver tale but otherwise it seemed like the author was just trying too hard to shock. Maybe it’s a sign of the times, but I did not find it graphic or gripping or genius.
