WORTH CONSUMING!

I resisted reading this book for years, because I’d heard so many great things about it and figured it couldn’t live up to my expectations. Boy was I wrong! This is one of the most hilarious books I’ve ever read, and Ignatius J. Reilly is one of my favorite characters ever.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This book was given to me to read by a friend that raved about it, but I just found the main character to be mostly annoying. I was told that I am most likely the only person that feels this way, but you like what you like and I just couldn’t work up any kind of sympathy for the character. Maybe the brilliance of the book is that it is such an accurate portrayal of an self-centered idiot… Who knows? I’ve never said I was the last word in book reviews… I have a lot left to learn about life and literature.

It took a long time for me to get into this book, but I persevered and laughed out loud quite a bit. The characters are well-drawn, even if extremely exaggerated. Worth a read.

I found this book to be just okay. It didn’t amuse me nearly as much as it seems to have amused others, and I remain slightly bothered by the ‘deus ex machina’ ending.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The hilarious and bizarre adventures of Ignatius J. Reilly make up one of the most wonderful novels ever written. It’s been years since I’ve picked up the book, but I can still see Ignatius in my mind’s eye, pushing the Lucky Dog hotdog cart. This is one of the few books that can get me laughing out loud, with huge, gut-busting guffaws. I love this book, and all the characters between the covers.
