Good, but not playing to his strengths — 3 years ago
WORTH CONSUMING!
I’ve never been a big Conan fan, but I am a Busiek fan, so I decided to give this a go. It’s pretty good escapist fantasy, and the artwork is very good – nice lush illustrations.
The story was okay, but not groundbreaking.
The big problem here is that Busiek excels at characterization, and this isn’t the vehicle for it. There’s a lot of hack and slash. You get brief insights into some of the characters’ personalities, and Conan meets lots of people, but rarely for very long.
