NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Meh.

I like comic book adaptions – they’re big and bright and fantastical. I like the vampire myths. And I enjoyed the first two Blade outings.

But this… it didn’t even suck. It just meh’ed.

Wesley Snipes has no bite here (okay, I’ll stop with the puns!) – he looks bored. I like Ryan Reynolds, but he sounds too camp to be a big scary vampire hunter, and his usual humour is both a welcome relief in this film and rather out of place. Dominic Purcell is someone I was glad to see again – I loved John Doe! But it’s just too hard to take the amnesiac nice-guy boffin as the epitome of all evil. And… I kind of wanted him to win ::sigh::

Worse, though, were the girlies: Jessica Biel in super-serious mode, just coming across as sad (yeah – I get that the guys probably appreciated her skimpy Xena outfits!), and Parker Posey as a big bad vampire… lisping and hamming it up exactly the same way as in Josie and the Pussycats.

Overall, this film was just a mess. I still enjoyed bits of it, it was mindless falling-asleep-on-the-couch Friday night fare, but… meh. A plot that didn’t pack any punch, and a very confused cast.

Actually, forget ‘wishy washy’ – avoid!
