Try steel cut oats! They’re a pain to cook because they take forever, but they’re WAYYYY better than regular oatmeal!

Ok so I have heard all of the great things about oatmeal, lowering cholesterol etc… but why does oatmeal have to feel like barf in your mouth?
Is there a way to make it better?

I make my oatmeal with cubed apples, raisins, and cinnamon. Then I put a bit of brown sugar and milk on it.
I have problems with water retention. Oatmeal guarantees one meal in my day that has no salt in it.
I feel good eating something so whole and healthy, with fiber. And it’s yummy, too. :-)

my recipe:
1/2 cup rolled oats (NOT quick oats or instant)
~1 tablespoon brown sugar
some raisins
pinch of salt
1/2 tablespoon chunky peanut butter
1 cup water
combine ingredients in cereal bowl. microwave for one minute. stir, mushing up the peanut butter. microwave two more minutes. stir. let sit for 3 minutes. enjoy.
the little bit of peanut butter makes it rich and creamy. a few months ago, i started making myself oatmeal for breakfast every day, and it has made my mornings so much better.
(my microwave is really whimpy. to achieve similar results, it may be advisable to set your microwave’s power level to 50-70%.)
