WORTH CONSUMING!

There’s no meat in Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s 28 Weeks Later—well, there’s a lot of it, actually (chewed up, mangled by helicopter blade, torn to shreds by machine gun fire, incinerated by flame thrower) but the stripped-down narrative is strictly about getting people from Point A to Point B and wondering which member of the team gets eaten alive in the process. I think I’m all alone in giving this a must-see recommendation (fans and critics both hated it, probably because it jettisons the political allegory of Danny Boyle’s first film), but the action sequences have an appealing, telegraphic visual style to them that reminds me of the ending of Richard Linklater’s Slacker: throw a running camera in the air and see what gets caught on film.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I just absolutely love this movie! I watch horror movies because I like the adrenaline rush I have when the action sections are running and 28 weeks later is a very good candidate for that kind of horror movies. I actually got so scared that my adrenalin gland probably got emptied because I wasn’t having insane thrills at the end of the movie, guess I was just exhausted.

Anyways, I recommend the movie, it’s pure fun! :)

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have to admit: I am a giant sucker for a good zombie flick. Also, I love movies about the apocalypse.

However, this is among the best zombie-themed movies I’ve ever seen. It’s not better than it’s predecessor, 28 Days Later, and does reuse the awesome music. Both are really from the same formula, and if you like the first, the second won’t disappoint.

The camera in the action sections will zoom in really close to the action which adds to the chaotic and claustrophobic feel. The zombies (referred to as “the infected”) are absolutely frightening. These aren’t George Romero’s slow, lumbering zombies that seem somewhat comical victims themselves. These guys have RAGE and will go into a full dead sprint after any potential victim, then tear you apart bare-handed.

Yeah, there’s no real progress to the overall storyline: there’s no cure found and they set it up for another sequel. However, this is movie is still very entertaining taken on it’s own.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

It’s sad this movie follows the clean, intellegent 28 Days Later: it’s so pointless, contrived, and silly that they couldn’t be more different.
