At first, this reminded me of Sigur Rós, but as Mogwai have been around longer than them I’m not really surprised. This is one of the more unexpected turns I guess the soundtrack to a documentary about one of the biggest footballers could take. Instead of the sporty actionesque sounds with big guitars, hairs and MOR melodies, this freaks you out to the point where you sit listening to “Black Spider 2”, the last track on the album (20 minutes long), wondering where your life is going to or to “Half Time”, getting carried away in a slowly building My Bloody Valentine-style.

Unexpected, yet very deserving album.
