The funniest book I’ve read in a long time. I especially enjoyed reading the chapter about taxes; I laughed my ass off.

Haven’t read Bryson for quite a few years so I’m looking forward to being amused by this.

as expected, Bryson is wry, charry, and totally engaging. I think I loved his essay on photo-ID and how Americans love rules the best. It’s cool that the book advances chronologically, in stride with the seasons. I read the section on fall and then Halloween, just as they approached. (I’m reading other books in between). Now I’m primed for Thanksgiving. The book may be 10 years old, but almost every bit of it still rings true. I can’t wait to finish so my friends can borrow it.
