I read this book for summer reading and I like totally fell in love with it, and then when school started, my teacher was like “yeah, all that stuff is made up, he didn’t even have a daughter” which just ruined the story for me. But it’s still a good book even if it’s all made up.

I love everything about this book—it’s unflinching look at war, the slipperiness of truth and how the stories are often more true when they are fictionalized, the heartbreak within victory and the tenderness within killing. He gets at every paradox that makes us human.
