Better than the first, but no sense of closure — 3 years ago
Well, I continued on with the series largely because of all the hype about Wolfe. I’d heard so many good things from so many sources, that I just had to give him more of a chance. The Wizard is a better read than The Knight, and does explain a lot of things, but leaves a great many holes in the story, and maybe I’m just not smart enough or patient enough to appreciate the style. I really could’ve done with fewer wild veerings this way and that. Still, the book does have some high points and the ideas about the structure of the universe and how faerie relates to the world of humans and the gods is one of the most interesting I’ve read.
