WORTH CONSUMING!
This was a wonderful book about the life of a Mexican woman who dreams of escaping poverty in the barrio she grew up in and the stigma’s attached to it. She uses her “skills” as a young woman and struggles to make her life different but finds that satisfying her hungry belly only leads to new and more complicated forms of hunger. She is a survivor and ultimately learns to respect her roots as she finds her place back in her home town. It is earthy and honest portrayal and her character is deeply lovable. I enjoyed it as a mother and as a woman.
