WORTH CONSUMING!

A British man in a dead-end job in London gets fired and, on the same day, inherits a vineyard in Provence—that is the premise for this light novel. It was entertaining enough, but a trifle fluffy for my tastes I wish more of the narrative had been spent on wine and food, and less on silly conspiratorial plots and even sillier romances.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was rather disappointed by this. I had heard that Peter Mayle’s books were very funny – my parents had loved A Year in Provence (they are both big Provence fans!) – but this one was just, well, okay. The plot was very predictable because of a shaky way to tell the story. The characters were flat. I still moderatly enjoyed reading it in the appropriate scenery but it did not live up to my Peter Mayle expectations – I’ll have to read A Year in Provence like everybody else!

WORTH CONSUMING!

Having wacthed this and then ralised that it is an adaptation of Peter Mayles book “Year in Provence” I would say that it is an ok film not one I would re-watch. Had some funny moments in it but all in all you could tell where it was going and the ending was predictable. There were some nice cinematic scenes in it. One to sit with a glass of red and be generally amused.
