The WORST movie based on a book EVERRRRRRRR. That being said, the movie by itself is very confusing and choppy. It’s hard enough to understand the southern drawl (at least to a NYer) but to hear them talk politics and personal problems that aren’t explained? Forget it! Read the book. And then, if you have a couple hours to waste, maybe put the movie on. Maybe it was just hard to get through after spending at least a dozen hours getting through the 600+ page novel…but after learning Jack Burden’s story, it’s a shame to see it’s never really told in the movie, despite the 2 hours that it drags on without making any sense.
