WORTH CONSUMING!

A bit disappointing, but not bad overall. I wanted it to hold together better as what the title says it is, but really it’s just a series of vignettes about how soccer is being affected by globalization, and vice versa. Which is fine for what it is, and I did learn a lot of neat things about soccer and how it mixes (often weirdly) with politics around the world.

So, read it, but just don’t expect it to be what the title says it is.

I worked with Frankie years ago, and I never knew he was a soccer fan (they usually out themselves to me when they hear I’m from Manchester), so I was over the moon—the boy can write—when I heard about this book. I can’t wait to get into it.
