WORTH CONSUMING!

I once wrote an essay about how my relationship with my mother can be summed up by our sharing of black olives. We both want them, but she always lets me have the last one. It was hoaky. But the black olives are still delicious and silky and good.

Real black olives - not canned — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I cannot express in words the amazing difference between naturally grown organic black olives and canned black cocktail olives. I worked for a couple of years for an organic foods company and got to sample some of the world’s best naturally ripened Turkish black olives. Heaven!
Most canned olives are actually green olives that have been dyed with ferrous gluconate or similar additives (read the ingredients list on the can!), and they usually taste more of the can and salt than of actual olive.
Learning the difference organic growing and packing made to olives converted me to the real thing. There’s no going back now.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I hate olives. Really, really, really, really hate them. I used to choose the longer, regular lines over the express lane at my old grocery store, because the latter was next to the olive bar and the smell, which I could smell up to about 7 feet away, makes me want to hurl. And I like olive oil – go figure!

Why I want to consume this — 2 years ago

Black olives have tannin in them – that is what turns them black. I read that can be good for your immune system.

They have a lot of fat in them too. So I tend to eat olives on days that I am not eating other fatty foods – just to keep everything in balance.

I bought these on one of those buy-lots-for-not-much sales at Giant grocery store a couple of weeks ago. So far I have just had one can. Need to work my way through the rest.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Yech…

Olives have to be one of the worst foods there are! Eating them makes me want to throw up, they’re so bad.

Just my opinion :)
