Dominique Pinon is excellent as always, Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s colors and set dressing are fantastic, and Silvie Laguna’s supporting character who constantly accidentally fails at killing herself steals every scene she’s in. If you mix Amelie with Sweeney Todd and Million Dollar Hotel, then add a down-on-his-luck clown as the main character in a post-apocalyptic setting where dried corn passes for currency, you might come up with this.
