WORTH CONSUMING!

Such fun! I actually enjoyed this more than Ratatouille or Cars. I don’t know if that’s cos it’s based on existing source material (the Over the Hedge comic strip), or just ‘cos it’s such a fun and silly story. I’m thinking it might have a great deal to do with Hammy… :)

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

The only thing that redeems it in any way is the music. Ben Folds is great. But, the story was just not engaging.

WORTH CONSUMING!

it seems to me that i am noticing the theme of the movie early on and it’s not shrinking back so i can enjoy the movie. usually i recognise the message and then it fades into the back of mind and i can enjoy the flick. lately not the case. i thought this movie had a good message- family, (yay!), and was cute. was it just me or was william shatner’s citizen cane monologue a little over the top?

WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s such a simple story about friendship and family but the writing and the humor is just so much fun! The all-star cast also did a great job with the characters. I laughed out loud so many times – Steve Carrell really did a hilarious job with his Hammy character!

WORTH CONSUMING!

I bought this DVD to send to my daughters in Japan, and I wanted to watch it first so we could talk about it after they’ve seen it. It was cute, and I know they will enjoy it. But it is hard not to compare it to other animated movies by Pixar and Disney (like Happy Feet or Ice Age or Madagascar), and it comes up a bit short, especially in terms of the plot. Lots of star power in the voices: Bruce Willis, Nick Nolte, among others. What’s best is the way the action sequences are shown. The runaway red wagon is a real rollercoaster ride. And the Hammy character is a laugh. The DVD has an extra short feature about him and a boomarang. Good fun.

it was ok. I enjoyed the characters (especially Hammy) and how well it was animated, but it was pretty weak in the story.
