Long before I was even remotely religious this book made me see Jesus as not just some untouchable relic, but as someone who could be tangible. Yes, it is fiction and it should be treated that way, but who is to say Jesus can’t speak to us through the modern imagination of a novel?

This is difficult to read but I want to finish it (someday) to see what the fuss is all about. As far as I can tell, having read the first 20-30 pages, it’s a very human portrayal of Jesus and his cohort.
